Hamburger Rice Casserole

This Hamburger Rice Casserole is a quick, satisfying dish that brings all the comfort of a classic casserole with minimal effort.

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • 9x13-inch casserole dish
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Aluminum foil

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables peas, carrots, or green beans

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
  • Cook the Beef:
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.
  • Season the Meat:
  • Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  • Combine Ingredients:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked beef, uncooked rice, beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, and frozen vegetables (if using). Stir until evenly combined.
  • Assemble the Casserole:
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared casserole dish and spread it out evenly.
  • Top with Cheese:
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the casserole.
  • Bake:
  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  • Rest and Serve:
  • Let the casserole sit for 5 minutes before serving. Scoop out portions and enjoy!
