Ingredients
  

  • For the Chocolate Cake
  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • For the Strawberry Filling
  • 1 ½ cups fresh strawberries chopped
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • For the Strawberry Frosting
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup strawberry puree from fresh strawberries
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven and prepare pans.
  • Mix wet and dry ingredients for the cake.
  • Bake the cake layers.
  • Prepare the strawberry filling.
  • Make the strawberry frosting.
